The People’s Politician
HBR were commissioned by the BBC at the tail end of last year to create two websites for The People’s Politician an experiment to work out why around 17 million people registered to vote at the last general election did not do so.
The experiment which was to feature Ann Widdecombe Conservative MP for Maidstone and the Weald in Kent and Richard Caborn Labour MP for Sheffield Central each of whom would have identical websites with identical functionality would be filmed as part of a documentary to be aired in early 2010.

The idea was to simply to provide the types of interactive tools that one might expect to find on any website seeking to engage with its audience and supplement these with one or two additional ideas.
There was no intension for the websites to replace anything that either of the two MP’s already had but merely to supplement these for the short timeframe in which the experiment was to take place.
Having developed several websites for MP’s we were not only excited to be involved but also very interested to see how the various aspects of each website would play out in each of the two constituencies involved.
The experience officially launched on 25th November 2009 with Ann Widdecombe filming during December and then Richard Caborn would continue in January 2010.
Ann’s run ended on 22nd December 2009 and you can read all about how it went on the BBC People’s Politician Blog.
