Shahid Malik MP
Shahid Malik Member of Parliament for Dewsbury and Mirfield in West Yorkshire appointed HBR to provide a revised website to keep his constituents updated with the work he had been doing in the community and at Westminster.
A high flyer in government circles Shahid was given his fourth Ministerial role when Gordon Brown appointed him as a Minister at the Department for Communities and Local Government in 2009. A post which includes responsibility for the Thames Gateway, Europe’s largest regeneration area, which is of considerable local interest.
Shahid and his team had a very clear direction for the new website and were certainly well versed in the use of social networking which Shahid is hoping to make full use of in the coming months with Facebook, Twitter, flickr and Youtube accounts already set up running, two of which are integrated right into the website.
In addition to the social networking elements the main focus of the site has been on providing local news, information on local campaigns, background about Shahid and the local area, methods to directly engage such as the online poll, surgery times and general contact details.
This site uses the Bluebird Content Management System developed by HBR to provide a website that is both easy to update and flexible enough to cater with future demands.
HBR have continually extended and developed the Bluebird CMS since 2002 to encompass new technology and features as they unfold to delivery a solution that is mature, stable and easy to use.
