Kerry McCarthy MP for Bristol East commissioned HBR to provide a new website to replace her existing site with the view to adding more functionality and gaining greater control over the ongoing process of updating content.The site uses the latest version of our Content Management Solution (CMS) which features new modules to maintain aggregated RSS news feeds and a Google Map Manager.
Although we have previously embedded RSS news feeds into websites for clients we have not until now provided a mechanism for clients to take multiple feeds from a variety of sources and aggregate them into a single source of news content for a page.
Also new is the Google Map Manager which allows for a series of place markers to be defined on a map and then have content assigned to these markers. In this particular instance Kerry required that the markers represented key locations in her constituency and that local news items be attributable to individual markers. Markers automatically show the latest news item and do not appear if there are no news items.
