Ascot Underwriting Intranet
Ascot’s existing Intranet had become difficult and very time consuming to maintain and sluggish in use. It was also becoming increasingly difficult to integrate with newer applications developed by the in-house IT department.
Ascot also wished to expand upon their existing content, re-organise certain areas and include items that just were not possible with the existing solution. Centralisation of control and integration with other existing external applications was also desirable.
Looking at current technical solutions adopted by the IT department we were able to offer a solution that not only provided all the facilities they required from an Intranet solution but also offered complete integration with existing applications to the point where everything looks like it was designed to be part of the new intranet.
The new site was constructed using the HBR Content Management System (Bluebird CMS) solution which includes many new features such as the advanced page editor complete with spellchecker and XHTML compliance. Many bespoke elements were added to provide the IT department with the exact level of control and functionality required.
The Intranet includes a user customisable application launcher, SQL Server Reporting integration, RSS News feeds, underwriter availability, contact manager and an IT Help Desk.
