Travelers Marine Hull rating system

For more than 171 years, Travelers has been working to support individuals, businesses and large organisations with quality insurance products.

Challenge

Travelers required a replacement solution for their Marine Hull rating system. The backbone of the existing system was a DataEase application, populated and regularly updated with Lloyd’s MIU (informa) data. The replacement system would be developed with Lloyd’s Register Fairplay as the data providers.

Solution

The fundamentals of the existing solution were brought forward and supplemented by additional requirements as specified by Travelers, although everything was built from the ground up. The new solution had the benefit of being web based and so did not have some of the drawbacks of the existing one. Development as a multi-user, multi-client application we were also able to develop a second rating mechanism which could be applied on a client by client basis. Finally a reporting suite was introduced to enable real time reports that were not possible with the previous solution.
